Real estate firms celebrate groundbreaking on 500+ bed cottage-style housing community
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (March 26, 2026) — Landmark Properties, a fully-integrated real estate firm specializing in the development, construction, acquisition, investment management and operations, along with Golden Primera and Peninsula Investments, today announced the official groundbreaking of The Retreat on Westerly, a new off-campus cottage-style student housing community being developed near Penn State University with delivery anticipated for the 2027 academic school year.
During the ceremony, The Retreat on Westerly presented a $10,000 donation to Mount Nittany Health Foundation, a local State College-based nonprofit. The donation will support the nonprofit’s mission dedicated to improving people’s quality of life by funding crucial initiatives that bring life-saving technologies, board-certified physicians and staff, and important programs and services to Mount Nittany Health.

Located at 462 Westerly Parkway, just one mile southeast of Penn State University, the 546-bed community will serve students attending the college and the surrounding areas. Once complete, the property will feature a mix of townhomes and garden-style buildings, offering two- to five-bedroom floor plans.
The pet-friendly community will include a 10,500-square-foot clubhouse, resort-style pool, pickleball court, sauna and cold plunge, Jumbotron, study lounges, fitness center, grilling and fire pit areas and multisport simulator. Situated on an 11.2-acre site, the property will total 142 units and also feature 417 on-site parking spaces.
The community will be located adjacent to Westerly Parkway Plaza, a grocery-anchored shopping center that offers residents convenient access to off-site retail. The site can accommodate the more than 237,000-square-foot cottage-style development while remaining within a designated commercial district, enabling walkable and bike-friendly access to campus as well as nearby dining, retail and entertainment options.
